Practices:
- Practices will be held at various locations in the Sugar Land area
- Practices days, times, and locations may fluctuate week to week. Typical Practice Days are Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Our weekend practice day is necessary due to availability of using a full track to conduct our practices on. Weekend practice allows us to focus on highly technical events that we can not work on during the week.
- Our first practice is set to begin January 13, 2025 at 5:30pm Sartartia Middle School, Sugar Land. This practice will focus on evaluating new athletes, Q&A for parents, a look at our uniforms, and a partial workout for all athletes.

Age/Grade Requirements:
FBCHA has several options for kids between the ages of 8 and 18. For athletes on the younger end of this spectrum, coaches will evaluate an athlete’s readiness for the weekly training and the meet competitions. A determination of either competitive, developmental, or not ready at this time will be made by the coaches and discussed with parents.
For the State Homeschool Meet the divisions will be grade based. The division format is the following:

FBCHA is a volunteer/parent run organization. We cannot do what we do without our volunteers and parents. There are a number of ways you can get involved:
- Make a point to know the schedule for practices and meets. Having your athlete on time and ready for practice is critical to their development and improvement. It is very important that you notify your coach, in advance, if your athlete has a conflict and cannot make a practice or a meet.
- At practices, we may need parents to assist with timing, raking pits, shagging discus and shots, etc. Not only does this help the coaches out tremendously, but it gets you, the parent, involved in what your athlete is doing.
- If you competed in Track and Field in high school or college, you might consider coaching in one of the many areas or age groups. (Please let us know if you are interested)
- At meets, you may also be called upon to help in various ways, so please make yourself available, if possible. We also have to set up and take down our team tents and keep our area clean as well as needing help monitoring and assisting our younger athletes.
Fundraising:
FBCHA will be fundraising for the upcoming 2024-2025 Track Season during the Fall prior to our 2025 spring season. It is not required for our athletes, but is strongly encouraged. Our fundraiser will help to provide equipment, offset meet fees, provide coaching shirts, bless our seniors, and give scholarships to athletes in need. Please note that all of our coaches are volunteers giving of their time, their knowledge, experience and inspiring our athletes to reach their greatest potential.

RECOMMENDED: Athlete preparation prior to practice/meets, what to bring to practice/meets, clothing, and shoes:
- Your athletes should always come prepared to train/run. We do recommend that all athletes drink plenty of water before, during and after practice/meets, as well as, light snacking. No matter what type of workout/run you tackle on any given day, going out on an empty stomach isn’t going to enhance your performance but more likely hinder it. Try and consume a light snack that includes carbohydrates to give you the energy you need to perform. It doesn’t need to be an entire meal, just something to get and keep you going. It is also a good idea after a vigorous workout, but within thirty minutes, to consume low-fat chocolate milk. Who doesn't love that idea?
- Please bring plenty of water, and if you want gatorade, with you to practice. On track meet days all athletes need to bring with them water, gatorade, and plenty of snacks. These meets can last for many hours. Our coaching staff will be talking to the athletes about appropriate nutrition for them to obtain their optimal performance.
- All athletes need a comfortable pair of running shoes, shorts, t-shirts, and in colder weather, long athletic style pants. It's always a good idea in inclement weather times to wear layers to practice, take off layers during practice, and then put layers back on after practice when the temperatures are always changing during this season.
- We also highly recommend wearing compression style shorts that cover the hamstrings to be worn under their shorts during meets and practices. This helps to prevent hamstring pulls which we see a lot of during the track season.
- High School athletes and some middle school athletes will need a pair of track spikes to wear during their running and jumping events. There are many different types of track spikes and they are designed for specific events your athlete is running. Please ask our coaching staff for recommendations before buying your athlete a pair of track spikes.
